Managing Anxiety/OCD during Travel

Reports of anxiety have increased significantly across the last few years, as has use of medication, participation in treatment, and requests for academic and work accomodations. Often overlooked and/or misidentified but a subset of anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is not uncommon (and it isn't about being organized or clean). In this session, we'll talk about these most common diagnoses and symptoms (for folks without or who haven't disclosed a diagnosis) and how to best manage them -- importantly, what works best isn't to ignore them, try to get rid of them, or pathologize them. We'll provide tips and tools to proactively set up your participants for success before travel, across appropriately anxiety-provoking adventures (like all the things that are study abroad), and how to lean in and cope despite challenges.
